Have you ever Googled your name? I am sure you have. If not, you should do so and consider what comes up first. When you are building your personal brand it is important to consider how you want people to feel when they interact with you and whether or not you have consistency across the board.
At Authentically, we consider search engine optimization - and a few ways to build search engine optimization is through website addresses, social media, and links from prominent websites.
Recently, Heather Pinay, founder of Authentically, was approached by Forbes to join their coaches council. This means that Heather will have the opportunity to contribute to Forbes.com content. When her work is published on this prominent online magazine, it will be more important than ever that her searchability is good. We went through an audit with www.BrandYourself.com and her old website was coming up.
Originally, Heather Pinay's site was a blog and portfolio. It was somewhat disjointed and did not showcase her personal brand as an entrepreneur and Forbes contributor. Heather's domain name redirected to Authentically - but the old WordPress site remained. To clean this up we took a number of steps.
1. We removed the old Wordpress Site.
We deactivated the old website. Bye bye, old content.
2. We considered goals for rebuilding
There were a number of reasons to rebuild
A. Search Engine Optimization
B. To capture traffic looking for Heather - and redirect them to Authentically
C. To establish a strong personal brand and book speaking engagements
3. We rebuilt the site
The site needed to reflect Heather currently, make it clear what Heather does, and direct traffic to Authentically.
Authentically rebuilt Heather's site in an effort to display what a strong personal brand can do for a career, for the organization which it represents, and for search engine optimization.
