As our business has grown, so has our understanding of our brand and the impact we want to make in our client's lives. We are consistently revisiting our roots as we grow and it keeps our offerings on point for our target demographic. I (Heather) founded Authentically in early 2016 out of a desire to help small businesses grow. I saw a market opportunity with start ups and ready to thrive businesses and I got angry at the seeming lack of resources available. I love pioneers, and boldness, and I wanted to push that boldness to victory.

Jena, for those of you who don't know, is my secret weapon, my support, and the support I needed to keep my business thriving. We had a strange Interview.

When I hired Jena we went out for dinner to talk. It was risky for her to join me in my startup but she trusted my work ethic and could feel the potential of what was growing right beneath me. 

At the time, I had a constant critic in my ear talking about my profitability. I knew I was on to something and joked with Jena that I make "a thousand dollars for breakfast." I know it sounds cocky, but there needs to be a level of bold-faced moxie when you are in business for yourself. When times have gotten stressful Jena and I have encouraged each other with the phrase, "Let's go make some breakfast." It takes us out of the shock and stress of running a startup to the onward momentum of pushing through blocks towards victory.
